Walk the Talk: Second Step in Action

The UE students have wrapped up the Second Step Social and Emotional Learning unit on empathy. The focal points in this unit were, first, identify and understand feelings, their own as well as others’. Farm School. A Perfect Fit.

Farm School is an annual event for our Middle School and we look forward to it with great anticipation. This year, we were scheduled to meet our partner school, Woodside Montessori, at the Farm on Halloween. However, Mother Nature had other plans. Our students' bags were packed (with costumes, but no candy), when we received a phone call from the director of Farm School telling us they had 20 inches of snow and no electricity. Wine Tasting and Jazz Night, Featuring Henley Douglas Jr.

Save the date! On February 11 (tentative date), the Stoneridge Parents Association in collaboration with Dan Bernal, CH3 parent, will host a Wine Tasting and Jazz Night featuring Henley Douglas Jr, founder of the Salem Jazz & Blues Festival and founding member of The Boston Horns. For $20 a ticket you can learn from an expert about various wines while enjoying great music and good food. The night will also feature our annual wine raffle drawing, sign-up for Great Gatherings and a silent art auction, all in support of our School. More...
Curriculum Spotlights and Step-Ups in January
Please join us at the next Curriculum Spotlight on Wednesday, January 11, followed by a Step-Up Morning for Grade 6 parents.
8:30-9:00 a.m. Curriculum Spotlight: "The Plus of Being Negative: Mathematics in the MS," led by Victor Young, MS Coordinator and Math teacher
9:15-9:40 a.m. MS Classroom Observation Parents are invited to observe in the Middle School classroom.
9:40-10:30 Discussion. Step-Up Morning concludes with an opportunity to discuss what you observed in the classroom and to ask questions about the MS program and curriculum. Alan will run this discussion, and one of the MS teachers and a current MS parent will be available to answer questions.
Next Curriculum Spotlight: Wednesday, January 25: "Ensuring that Our Students are Good Spellers," with Heather Carnevale and Cathy Palmisano, Lower and Upper El Head Teachers.This Curriculum Spotlight will be part of the Step-Up Morning for K and Grade 3.
As with all of our Curriculum Spotlights, all parents are welcome--stop by at 8:30 to get a cup of coffee, and then expand your thinking about how children learn at Stoneridge. We encourage parents at all levels to join us! We will finish by 9 am. Curriculum Spotlights are held in the Music Room, right off the lobby.
